The journey
About the Malvan & Vengurla trip
Three days in Sindhudurg — boat to Sindhudurg fort, dolphins and backwaters at Tarkarli and Devbag, then the quiet cliffs and beaches of Vengurla and Redi.
South Kokan is where the sea turns clear and the food turns fiery. We start in Malvan with a boat to Sindhudurg fort and a Malvani fish thali, spend a full day on the water at Tarkarli and Devbag, and end on the red cliffs of Vengurla with its old lighthouse and empty beaches.
It is the trip for people who want a little adventure — snorkelling, dolphin spotting, a backwater boat ride — and a lot of good food.

Malvan
Malvan & the sea fort of Sindhudurg
Arrive in Sindhudurg and take a boat to a 350-year-old island fort.
Morning
Pickup from Kankavli railway station (or arrive with us from Mumbai/Pune) and drive to Malvan. Check-in and freshen up.
Afternoon
Malvani lunch, then a boat from Malvan jetty to Sindhudurg fort, built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on an island — see his hand and foot imprints set in the wall.
Evening
Walk Malvan market and Rock Garden, then sunset at Chivla beach.
↳ local tip: Boats to the fort stop around 5 pm and don’t run in the monsoon. We time it for you.

of 03
Tarkarli & Devbag
Dolphins, backwaters & Devbag sangam
A full day on the water where the Karli river meets the Arabian Sea.
Morning
Early dolphin safari off Tarkarli and Devbag, then snorkelling in clear water near Tsunami island. (Scuba diving can be added.)
Afternoon
Lunch at a riverside home, then a slow boat ride along the Karli backwaters lined with coconut palms.
Evening
Sunset at Devbag sangam, where the river meets the sea. Bonfire at your stay (subject to rules).
↳ local tip: Dolphins show up best between 7 and 9 am. Worth the early alarm.

Vengurla → Redi
Vengurla cliffs & Redi Ganpati
Quiet beaches, an old lighthouse and the last stretch of Maharashtra’s coast.
Morning
Check-out and drive to Vengurla — the lighthouse, Sagareshwar beach and the Mochemad viewpoint.
Afternoon
Lunch, then Redi Ganpati temple and the long, empty Shiroda–Velagar beach.
Evening
Drop at Kankavli railway station by 6 pm, or start the drive back to Mumbai/Pune.
↳ local tip: Buy dried fish and kokum in Vengurla market — cheaper and better than at the highway.

Questions
Malvan & Vengurla: FAQs
Is scuba diving included in the Malvan Tarkarli package?
Snorkelling is included. Scuba diving is an optional add-on we book for you, depending on the dive type and season.
Where do you pick us up for the Malvan trip?
From Kankavli railway station on the Konkan Railway (about an hour from Malvan) if you come by train or your own car, or door to door from Mumbai or Pune if you travel with us.
What is the best time to visit Konkan?
October to March is ideal for beaches, water sports and sightseeing. April–May is mango season (hot, but worth it). June–September is the monsoon: lush and dramatic, but boat rides to sea forts and water sports are usually closed.
Where does the trip start? Do you pick up from Mumbai or Pune?
Your choice. We can pick you up in Mumbai and drop you back in Mumbai, or do the same from Pune. If you prefer the train or your own car, we meet you at the station or base town nearest the trip, like Ratnagiri station for the Ratnagiri trip or Kankavli station for Malvan, and drop you back there.
How much does a Konkan trip cost?
It depends on where you start, the stays you choose (and what is available on your dates), the activities you add and how many people are travelling. A couple and a group of ten get very different quotes. Share your plan and we send a clear, all-inclusive quote, usually the same day.
What is the difference between homestay, resort and budget options?
The route and experiences are the same. A traditional homestay means a Kokani home with home-cooked food; a resort or cottage gives you more comfort and amenities; budget hotels are clean, simple rooms. We shortlist what is available for your dates.
